Scanned PDFs are images of text, not real text. Run the file through the OCR tool first to add a text layer, then extract.
Does it keep the original formatting?
It extracts the raw text, so paragraphs carry over but complex layout, columns, and styling do not. For an editable document, use PDF to Word.
